Funk Defender

Funk Defender" is an album by Almas Band, featuring 9 new songs that pay tribute to New Orleans and the funk music born in the city.

The visual concept for the album was to portray Louisiana as a powerful black woman and as a goddess with a halo represented as a fishnet, symbolizing the diverse cultures of New Orleans, and weaving together influences from African rhythms to French Creole melodies. With these melodies, Louisiana uses her halo as a seductive fishing net to immerse us in the soul-stirring sounds of Funk Defender, while paying homage to the city's storied past, vibrant present, and the spicy essence of its music and funk.
